Preprosthetic Section

Preprosthetic surgery aims to achieve oral rehabilitation in case of partial or total tooth loss with the aim of a long-term stable and uneventful prosthetic correction

Recent years brought up a large increase in new technologies and treatment opportunities. Both physicians and patients are nowadays often insecure about the best treatment option. Therefore the search for evidence as well as teaching & education is the main motivation for the preprosthetic section. In detail, the following points are of interest to the section:

  • Demands on bony reconstruction of the alveolar crest
  • Soft tissue aesthetics
  • Regional and non-regional bone grafting procedure
  • Patient-compliant procurements
  • Complications and how to deal with them?
  • Distraction osteogenesis and the limits involved in this technique
  • Orthodontic considerations
  • The role of biomaterials, PRP and growth factors
