S.O.R.G. North America

The North American S.O.R.G. was founded in 2007 and is centered around improving and maintaining the skills of the Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon.

The North American group is currently broken up into six different sections centered around research. These sections include: Craniofacial & Pediatric Surgery; Preprosthetic Surgery, Implants & Anesthesia; Orthognathic, Cosmetic & Sleep Apnea; TMJ & Pain; Trauma; and Reconstructive Surgery / Tumors.

The S.O.R.G.'s educational goals in North America are met with three types of events.

Modular Courses are held every six months and act as an advanced update on all subspecialty areas of maxillofacial surgery in four sixteen hour courses.

Meet the Expert events are held in local areas to strengthen the knowledge of residents and area maxillofacial surgeons. An expert speaker is chosen by the chairman and local S.O.R.G. faculty or residency program leadership. Content varies, but is often updates on subspecialty topics and new technologies.

Master Courses are advanced level courses. They offer experts within a subspecialty area of maxillofacial surgery to improve understanding and discuss new technologies and techniques.
