The realm of head and neck reconstruction has advanced significantly to such an extent that we are now entering a most exciting phase. As microvascular surgical skills become the norm and predictable results can be achieved the range of our surgical therapies can be allowed to flourish.
Now that comprehensive cancer resection surgery is undertaken with dedicated highly skilled surgical teams, much thought has to be given to the 3-Dimensional approach toward reconstruction. The demands for future rehabilitation are significant and expectations are high.
The challenges we face with recurrent disease and following radiation tissue damage are also large. The Covid era we live in also may impact on our treatment algorithms and outcomes.
This presentation will show our approaches at London North West University Hospitals NHS Trust and incorporate shared learning from the literature and our colleagues around the globe.
