Biography of the faculty

Dr. Thomas Altree 

Respiratory and sleep physician, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, South Australia 

Dr. Altree is a specialist physician dual-trained in respiratory and sleep medicine. Based in Adelaide, he leads the respiratory clinical trials unit at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and conducts research at the Adelaide Institute for sleep health, focusing on diseases affecting breathing and sleep. 

Dr. Andrew Cheng 

Oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Royal Adelaide Hospital

Dr. Cheng is a fully qualified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with dental and medical degrees from the University of Adelaide. He has extensive experience in oral surgery, oral pathology, and dental implant surgery, and is actively involved in research on 3D airway changes in maxillomandibular advancement surgery.  

Prof. Dr. Dr. Jan de Lange 

Full Professor, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery / Oral Pathology, Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), Netherlands 
Chair, Maxillofacial Surgery Department, Amsterdam UMC 

Prof. Dr. Dr. Jan de Lange is a distinguished maxillofacial surgeon and epidemiologist, leading the maxillofacial surgery departments at Amsterdam UMC and ACTA. His extensive research encompasses obstructive sleep apnea, trauma, and osteotomy. He frequently lectures internationally and serves as Vice Chair of the Strasbourg Osteosynthesis Research Group (SORG).  

Prof. Danny Eckert 

Sleep physiologist, Flinders University 

Prof. Danny Eckert is a leading sleep physiologist at Flinders University, specializing in the pathophysiology of sleep disorders and targeted therapeutic interventions. His research focuses on advancing the understanding and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. 

A/Prof. John-Charles Hodge 

Head of Department, Otolaryngology, Royal Adelaide Hospital 
Associate Professor, University of Adelaide 

A/Prof. Hodge is a specialized ENT surgeon renowned for his expertise in transoral robotic surgery and management of head and neck conditions. As head of the otolaryngology department at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, he has been instrumental in pioneering advanced surgical techniques.

Dr. Vikram Padhye 

ENT surgeon, Adelaide, South Australia 

Dr. Padhye is an Adelaide-based ear, nose, and throat surgeon with specialized training in sleep and sinus surgery. He completed dual international fellowships in advanced sleep apnea and sinus surgery, including training at Stanford University, a global leader in sleep surgery.

Cancellation by course organizer

  • the course organizer reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment or other circumstances which would make the course non-viable.
  • if the organizer cancels a course, registrants will be offered a full refund of registration fees. The organizer will not reimburse other costs incurred with the course (travel or hotel bookings by participants not made by the organizer).
  • should circumstances arise that result in postponement of a course, the organizer has the right to either issue a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date.

Registration cancellation by participant:

  • The deadline to receive a refund for your registration is 21 business days before the course.
  • Registration cancellations received prior to the deadline may be eligible to receive a refund less a service fee of € 100.-.
  • Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund.
  • Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend the course.
  • Cancellations will be accepted in writing only and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. When writing your cancellation please include the details of your credit card or bank details (BIC).
