The aims of the Strasbourg Osteosynthesis Group (S.O.R.G) are to foster the scientific development at all levels by both experimental research and clinical studies, as well as publications and continuing medical education. A major focus of the group is the development of new techniques and improved instrumentation in the fields of CMF surgery.

S.O.R.G. TMJ Course, Vienna, Austria

The S.O.R.G “Arthroscopic and Open Temporomandibular Joint Surgery – Basics and New Horizons” Course in Vienna, Austria has been a highlight on the calendar for several years in the past and the 2018 version was no different. A highly successful course was driven by an extremely well specialised and experienced faculty in the field of TMJ treatment. These members included Raúl González-García (Badajoz, Spain), Louis Mercuri (Chicago, USA), Florencio Monje (Badajoz, Spain), Andreas Neff (Marburg, Germany), Dorrit Nitzan (Jerusalem, Israel), Nadeem Saeed (Oxford, UK) and Andrew Sidebottom (Nottingham, UK).

S.O.R.G. Course @ EACMFS, Munich, Germany

Another interesting S.O.R.G. pre-conference event was carried out at the occasion of the EACMFS Congress 2018 in Munich on September 17th driven by four esteemed German experts in their field. Andreas Fichter (Munich), Marco Kesting (Erlangen), Jochen Weitz (Munich) as well as Course Chairman Jürgen Hoffmann (Heidelberg) gave detailed insights by lecturing on “Innovative Approaches in Reconstructive Head and Neck Surgery” followed by a limited attendance hands-on model workshop for the registered 40 participants from 22 nations.

State-of-the-art in 3D Virtual Planning in Orthognathic Surgery

We are pleased to announce that the “State-of-the-art in 3D Virtual Planning in Orthognathic Surgery” course in Bologna, Italy was a huge success with over 40 participants attending. The one day course took place on June 9, 2018 and was coordinated between Prof. Gwen Swennen, Prof. Alberto Bianchi. The S.O.R.G course included a combination of lectures and hands-on activities utilising orthognathic virtual planning software.
